Unleash LLM Innovation Challenge

Applied AI for People, Planet, Progress

An Official pre-summit event of the India - AI Impact Summit 2026

A pioneering youth-focused LLM innovation challenge under the YuvAi Initiative for Skilling and Capacity Building — together with Meta, in collaboration with IndiaAI & AICTE, and implemented by 1M1B — bringing together students and young developers to build open-source LLM solutions for real-world impact.

What is YuvAI Initiative for Skilling and Capacity Building?

Meta, in collaboration with IndiaAI (MeitY) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), launched the YuvAI initiative for Skilling and Capacity Building, a program that aims to bridge the AI talent gap in the country by empowering 100,000 students and young developers aged 18-30 to leverage open-source large language models (LLMs) to address real-world challenges.

It aims to build capacity in generative AI skills, utilizing open-source LLMs while fostering AI innovation across key sectors. Over the next three years, the initiative will train one lakh youth, developers, and entrepreneurs, contributing significantly to India's AI ecosystem.

Why this Challenge?

Why this challenge?

The Unleash LLM Innovation Challenge is designed to spark innovation among India's youth and empower them to create open-source LLM applications for social good. This challenge encourages students and young developers to tackle real-world problems with AI solutions that are inclusive, sustainable, and scalable.

We align with the guiding principles of People, Planet & Progress — inspiring innovation that benefits communities, safeguards the environment, and drives equitable growth.

Important

Projects must make use of open-source LLMs. Submissions that do not use LLMs will not be considered. LLMs can play the role of the main hero (core of your solution) or a sidekick (supporting function that enhances your idea).
